Below you will find some mystery sound files, the most recent is at the top.

Well its been a while since I added a 'sounder' type
file and strictly speaking this is actualy a numbers station! Its
our old numbers buddies in Cuba! we have become accustomed to
V02a and M08 the Spanish lady and cut numbers cw stations, but in
2007 they started with a new mode BPSK-31 to be exact. If you use
a decoder on this file you will see numbers and then between the
messages 22222 is used to mark the end and 11111 to mark the
start of the next message. The action took place on 17478 at
16:00 to 16:50 13/03/2007. Click the cigar to hear or download
and click here for a picture of the decode.

Not content with passing a rare
message S28 is obviously getting bored with just buzzing away day
after day! so for a bit of variety it decided tonight to change
its sound at 2 mins to each hour! This recording was made at
22:58 you hear the buzz, buzz change to a sort of rising and
falling alarm then at 22:59 its back to the old buzz, buzz. I
noted this at 21:58 as well! 16/03/2006 (update May 2006 S28 now sends
this on the hour)

Tuesday from 19:08 we found what has come to be known as 'The
Whale' or 'Backwards music station' this one was on 4742 USB and
the clip has the added bonus of RAF Ascot 6819 calling Architect
he gets no reply! This was a big signal here and sounds very much
like feedback, so is it a jammer or just a open mic? The Enigma
designator for this station is XM.

Well its the first of the month and here we go with another spooky sound clip to add to our collection!
This one was found on 01/07/2005 on 10305 AM, it was a very wide AM signal with a metallic quality to it, it reminds me of 'The racing car' link 11 sound that you can find further down this list. Or maybe its another rada system?
The recording starts off with the AM signal recorded just after 18:57, when we checked later at 21:16 the sound had changed. Can anyone tell us what it is?

We found this today 25/05/2005 at
22:20 on 11426 LSB, at first we thought it may be a Polytone
station like XP. It would be good to get a positive ID on it to
save confusion later. Click this blue dot to see a picture.
Good
news! our friend Leif from the
Spooks list tells us what this is.. "Its Algiers Ministry of
Foreign Affairs using Coquelet-8 at 13.33 Bd; traffic is in
French"

tummy! however some freinds from the WUN list pointed out that it
is in fact a "Over the horizon radar transmitter. Bandwidth
is about 20 kilohertz and it transmits 25 hertz spaced carriers
in
burst of 40 milliseconds This one can be heard all over the HF
spectrum and is thought to be
transmitting from Spain" recorded 31/03/05 on 18000khz at
